Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

FINAL COLLECTION COPY

Original 1969 first press... in THICK laminated cover!

Very hard to find, always has been!

Here, a FANTASTIC final collection copy!

MINT ... STILL IN ORIGINAL FACTORY CELLOPHANE

you can't find a better copy unless its sealed!

...Clearly their rarest ... the third and last CRITTERS LP features a distinct change in direction, towards a semi-commercial, prog hard rock sound featuring psych influences. At times, this seems to sound a little like a concept LP. While the change in musical direction featured the group progressing into styles that would fit in with the late '60s FM underground radio scene, the album, as strong as it is, sadly was not promoted and went completely under the radar of many would be fans. For instance, the 'fan man' points out vrious highlight tracks that abound on this album, as follows:

- Kicked along by a fantastic bass pattern and some great  jangle guitar, 'Colleen' sounded like something like a lost gem from their 1966 album.  Hard to adequately describe, but the song had that distinctive mid-1960s aura that is mesmerizing.  Way cool.

- Any song that opens up with fuzz guitar is likely to get a nod from a lot of collectors and that's the case with 'The Teddy Bear Affair'.  Yeah, the song structure was a bit busy, but the chorus was hyper commercial and Ryan's fuzz guitar lead was amazing.

- You have to remember this album was released in 1969 when virtually everyone was trying to make some sort of social or political statement.  As such, witness 'Wooden Soldiers', why should these guys have been any different?   And like most of the competition this one hasn't aged at all in this way.

Avon Iris found the band trying to underscore their 'heavy' credentials. The keyboard propelled number comes off
strained and forced, though the jam section picks up speed.

- 'King Street Flying Circus' found the band stepping back to mid-1960s styled pop-psych.  Certainly a fun kind of throwback.   Nice extended, freak-out fuzz guitar solo!

The group-penned instrumental 'Harold' features a likeable stab at adult contemporary jazz.  Yeah, the genre didn't really exist in 1969, but so what.  Relaxing....
