I've owned this record since new in the 1960s and have played it carefully. Whilst not being an expert in grading LPs, I would say that it plays as well as some Ex graded records I have bought on eBay, certainly VG+ with slight crackling on needle run-in but no crackling that I can hear during playback. For me, it seems to play just as well as when I first played it about 50 years ago. The sleeve is also in good condition with minimal wear on the corners and only very slight yellowing on the white area of the front cover. All seams are sound and the album title is clearly displayed on the spine. On the reverse of the cover is the UK import duty stamp that was required at that time. Also included is the original Blue Note characterised inner paper sleeve in reasonably good condition. If you've read this far you'll probably already know that this is reputedly the finest live Jazz recording of the 1950s. Art Blakey himself summed it up by saying "Wow! First time I enjoyed a recording session" Interestingly also, this LP and its companion Volume 2 are very early compilations (from three 10" LPs).
