IO e MARA Lp by ORCHESTRA ALBERTO BALDAN BEMBO. Original Italian pressing on the CGD label (FGS 5047), from 1969. Stoned, sexy and exotic masterpiece by the cult arranger with bewitching scat vocals by the mysterious Mara. For us, the pinnacle sound of Bembo. Atmospheric bossa and funky lounge with cool psychedelic FX. Our soundclip opens with the incredible samba of SABATO ORE 24 featuring Mara riding the shockingly funky rhythms and De Filippi sitar breaks. The whole Lp is superb, with ultra-stylish and erotic arrangements. Beautiful, spaced-out FX with crashing waves / seagulls / thunderstorm claps / rain showers and jet plane engine sounds. There is also a filmic undercurrent running through this recording with baroque hammond motifs and lamenting / strange pop rhythms galore. The session is basically a continuous suite but please note, we have edited parts around for our soundclip. Rolando Ceragioli was the conga player on the Basso Valdambrini - Bossa Nova Lp on Ricordi label. Iconic pop art sleeve artwork by cult S&M / sex fumetti illustrator Guido Crepax too. Very rare Lp!!! Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG++ condition with a few light scuffs and hairlines. Light surface noises. Some soft pops and soft ticks (as you can hear). A couple of tiny scratches / pressing imperfections. The laminated, flipback sleeve is in strong VG++ condition with light corner wear in places. Some ring dirt marks from storage. Some laminate peeling to bottom flipback seam of back sleeve. Sharp corners and edges. Camera flash glare to sleeve and label photo. Very rare Lp!!!
