Alive! A Folk Passion Play Of Today (Private) UK (1971)
Rare UK Private press xian/folk LP
Numbered 45 on the rear sleeve. Estimates suggest a pressing run of around 100 copies
Condition sleeve/vinyl: Vg+/Vg (cover has some wear with no major defects. Disc is very shiny with some marks/scuffs/light scratches visible under bright light. Audio is surprisingly good with some light background noise and the occasional tick)
Excerpts from the production in the Crypt of St. Martin-in-the-Fields London during April & May, and in the Chapel Royal Tower of London in June 1971
Created in the Crypt of St. Martin’s by young people, it is their impression of Jesus in Trafalgar Square in the 70’s, with the theme of Love, Money, Freedom and Revolution.
The Songs:
Theme Song: “Love One Another” and “Judas Song” written and sung by Brian Dean
“Red Tape Blues” and “Lonely Rider” written and sung by Mike Maran (Mike Maran was a contemporary of Al Stewart, Roy Harper etc. Then later recorded the Fair Warning album for the Bronze label, and was a regular on the concert scene opening for King Crimson, ELO, Wizzard etc. He now works very successfully in musical theatre as a performer and composer)
