Some wear and stain lines along front cover edge at opening, 1" square of sticker pull up wear bottom corner, small crease near center, small nick or two in finish, creases inside gatefold at spine; otherwise very clean. Lp nearly new, very little wear.
After founding, and leaving, SOFT MACHINE, Daevid Allen formed THE BANANAMOON BAND in France with chanteuse ( and future space whisperer) Gilli Smyth, drummer Marc Blanc and bassist Patrick Fontaine. While Allen and Smyth would soon split to form GONG, Blanc and Fontaine in 1969 put together the very exploratory progressive band AME SON. Their powerful sound was based around heavy electric guitar riffing with psychedelic jazz styled polyrhythms and flourishes, including some impressive flute work from Francois Garrel. The album is a true mind bender for fans of wailing guitar expeditions as well.
Early French psychedelic hard rock, that foreshadowed the whole 70s French prog scene, was the order of the day here, and AME SON made the most of the moment with this album that boldly paved new musical ground, and still remains as listenable today as it ever was. Similar in some ways to the styles and sounds of fellow French bands, COEUR MAGIQUE, NYL, ACHE, and possibly the seminal space-rock band VISITORS, it should be noted that AME SON's sound and early career, including this album, generally preceded those of most of their contemporaries. A highly recommended lp; early, raw, rare, incredible - a period-piece masterwork in its own right.
