Description
ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS' Self-Titled LP Released in STEREO by BLUE NOTE RECORDS (BST 4003) in 1959, features trumpeter BENNY GOLSON and Saxist LEE MORGAN among the group. This is the 1st Press Deep Groove with the RVG and Ear symbol etched in the wax run-off and West 63rd address. Please check out my other auctions for more Rare Jazz LPs.
The LP is in NEAR MINT MINUS condition and has been played moderately (10-12 times?) judging by the number spindle of marks on the labels with No Audio scratches or marks of any kind. On playing, each side has a moderate background noise at the beginning of each song and then settle down into a NM- play with very light background noise and an occasional pop. The LP looks and plays beautiful!
The Cover is in VERY GOOD PLUS condition with Light Wear to the front and back, with wrinkles near the lower right corner. The 2 corners on the open side both show rounding , while the other 2 are sharp. The Seams are intact and clean, Except for a 1" Semi-Split on the Title Seam. Nice!
