Description
Axis: Bold as Love is the second studio album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was first released by Track Records in the United Kingdom on December 1, 1967, only seven months after the release of the group's highly successful debut album, Are You Experienced. In the United States, Reprise Records delayed the release until the following month [release date: 1/15/1968]. Like its predecessor, Axis: Bold as Love was a critical and commercial success, reaching the top ten in the album charts in both countries.
NOT SO FUN FACT: Its album cover generated controversy for displaying Hindu religious iconography. It was designed without Hendrix's approval, and he publicly expressed his dissatisfaction.
It was certified platinum in the US by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and silver in the UK by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI). Rolling Stone ranked it number 92 on its 2020 list of the "500 Greatest Albums of All Time".
THIS COPY is a Terre Haute 1st pressing from 1968 in a gatefold cover (see Notes, below). The vinyl has some marks, but per a test listen, there were no skips and only a couple of clicks at the end of the fade out on track A3. Overall, the vinyl is in Very Good [VG] condition or better. The original gatefold cover shows only general signs of handling, including surface soiling in the light areas on the front (refer to photo). Overall, it is in Very Good [VG] condition. The original inner sleeve is plain white with square corners and a center label hole. The backside has some large tears (see photo); for this reason I will also include a new white inner sleeve for your use.
