A chance to bid for four classic African Head Charge vinyl LPs (all first issues) and pick up a real bargain. These sell for around £20 each - bids starting here at just £30 for four. French label On-U-Sound produced some pretty leftfield releases in the 1980s, and none moreso than African Head Charge - a heady mix of spacey dubs, tribal beats, vocal samples and chants. These are four of their first five releases, on lovely original issue vinyl.
My Life in a hole in the Ground - 1981 On-U LP 13 sleeve and disc very good - no marks, creases or scratches; slight pressing defect, affects track 1 on each side.
Drastic Season - 1983 On-U LP 27 Sleeve very good - one dent at edge, otherwise immaculate; disc near-mint
Off the Beaten Track - 1985 On-U LP 40 Sleeve very good, disc near-mint

'This is without a doubt my number one album of all time - if you haven't heard it before, you must buy it. It goes way out into the realms of avant garde experimentalism, but somehow manages to stay very tight. Think it came out in 1983, but it could equally be 2093. You can't describe sound in words, but imagine the soundtrack when some martian rastas land in the mexican desert and take part in a peyote ritual with the locals. Your mouth will hang open, you'll go cross eyed and you'll probably dribble a bit as you're brain tries to comprehend it all. AND its quite funky, so grandma's foot will be tapping too. It was conceived after Adrian Sherwood heard David Byrne / Brian Eno's "My Life In the Bush Of Ghosts" somewhat pretentiously (Eno? Pretentious?) described as 'psychedelic African music'. Not. So he set out to make just that, and more than succeeded. This album manages to be many things, a funky urban jungle soundtrack, strongly trip - evocative, real, earthy, and a work of art. It comes from an era of great musical inventiveness that gave a backdrop to the early 80s UK psychedelic revival.'
