HAWKSHAW   Grange Hill  (Chicken Run Theme from BBC Series)    7 INCH VINYL    BBC RECORDS RESL 64  1978 UK 

Alan Hawkshaw  composed memorable TV theme used as the opening music for Grange Hill which ran some 30 years

the ongoing school based soap that tackled genuine gritty issues produced by the brilliant  Phil Redmond and gave us  characters

including Tucker  , Suzanne Ross ( played by Susan Tully) Gripper and Mrs McCluskey the feared head teacher 

This original version was used as the theme from 1978 -87 and was a genuine Ear worm sampled by the likes of Goldie Looking Chain 

 

 B side  is by Deluxe    title Stoned 

Matrix is RESL A-1<>MB

              RESL B-1<>MB 

complete with original BBC company Sleeve   and like most PYE pressings from the mid 70s has a hint of red Translucence when viewed under a bright light  ( see Photo 5 where I have tried to demonstrate the effect ) PYE seemed to favour vinyl pellets with a red colour cast for some reason   

So a bit of a cult recording that will maybe take you back to your own school days which were hopefully not as stressful as the classes of Grange Hill !

CONDITION

EXCELLENT Company Sleeve   faint signs of corner crease  - but generally  Excellent condition

 Vinyl Near MINT    I suspect played just a few times
