Description
From Denmark. this is Debut DEB 144, Albert Ayler Ghosts, the original black label with silver lettering, mono issue of this historic and beautiful session featuring Don Cherry , Gary Peacock and Sonny Murray. An extremely rare 2nd issue from Fontana records has been offerred on e-bay a few times, but I know of only one offer of this original Debut issue which was over five years ago. Most of you looking at this are aware of just how rare this piece is. The record is in VG+(+) condition. There are some light marks on both sides and a more pronounced mark on side 1. This mark causes a light click (for 5 revolutions). There are moments of light background crackle at the beginning of both sides and during the bass solo on side 2. The rest of the program is quiet. The sound of the music is beautifully transparent and without distortion. The labels are perfect. The glossy cover has some light wear, with small bumps on the edges, but is otherwise excellent and intact, with perfect seams, no writing and a clean clear front. This is a strong copy of this extremely rare collector's piece. I have entered a reserve price. The record was cleaned on a VPI 17 and played on a Linn Sondek LP12.
