Description

Released a few months after the passing of ABB founder & guitar legend Duane Allman, EAT A PEACH occupies an important transitional spot in the Allman Brothers' discography. The leading three tracks, recorded after Duane's death, point the way toward proof that the 5 man band still had reason to continue. Dickey Betts shines on the opening "Ain't Wastin' Time No More," deftly handling a slide-guitar part - his best in my opinion - an obvious tribute to the group's departed founder ."Melissa" plays squarely to Betts's strengths, while "Les Brers in A Minor" recalls the extended jams of the AT THE FILLMORE EAST album. The next three tracks on EAT A PEACH are out-takes taken from the Fillmore show recordings, in order to increase Duane's presence on the double LP.  Each selection represents the Duane-era Allmans at their best, especially the blistering "Trouble No More."  The final three tracks, studio sessions featuring Duane, show the Allmans only getting better and better, and proves that Duane's relentless strive to always develop and improve would have continued had he lived.
