Almanac Singers: Talking Union 78" album, 1941.


This is a great first- edition folk recording featuring the Almanac Singers, which at the time included Woody Guthrie and a young Pete Seeger.


This album features six songs:


1. Talking Union


2. Union Maid


3. Get Thee Behind Me, Satan


4. All I Want


5. Union Train


6. Which Side are You On?


This is a historically significant recording, and was added to the Library of Congress National Recording Registry in 2010; the Library of Congress adds select recordings to their collection annually that are "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." As an early recording by Pete Seeger in collaboration with Woody Guthrie and the other Almanac Singers, this album is an important beginning to what would blossom into the Folk Revival of the 1950's- 1970's. It contains protest songs written by the Almanac Singers, as well as some Traditional music covers.


The sleeve and records are in visually excellent shape for their age; no deep scratches are present. Although the records have slight surface scuffing from decades past, and the sleeves have some minor scuffs, small rips, and slight discoloration, all wear is insignificant enough to distract from the overall presentation. The colors in the sleeve are still vibrant.


Not play tested, but the disks are cleaner than many their age.


The album will be packed securely to ensure that the discs arrive to you safely.
