This auction is for a mint unplayed, sealed US audiophile pressing of A Tchaikovsky Spectacular - featuring The Overture "1812", Romeo and Juliet and Marche Slave - played by the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by Andrew Previn on the Mobile Fidelity label (MFSL 1-502, released circa 1979).

This vintage pressing is a half-speed mastered Original Master Recording in stickered hard-cover sleeve with static-free inner. All its constituent parts are in mint condition.

This record has been acquired from a collector who has stored it upright in an airtight foam-lined flight case for more than three decades! Hence, it has been kept in ideal conditions and is in perfect condition.

It was one of the earliest pressings made by the legendary Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL) during the late 1970s/early 1980s as the company set out to create a revolution in recorded sound, to counter to the sometimes abysmal quality of US vinyl during this period.

These early MFSL records were pressed in Japan (with covers printed in the US), imported and sold in some UK record shops at approx. £15 to £16 – at least three times the cost of most domestic vinyl LPs at the time.
