Description
Otto Klemperer/ The Philharmonia Orchestra
Schumann: Piano Concerto in A minor
Liszt: Piano Concerto No. 1 in B flat major
(Columbia SAX 2485 UK LP 1963)
This is a UK Stereo 1st pressing in great overall condition! It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve which has a large sized "Stereo" on the front. It comes with its original polythene-lined generic "EMI" company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has turquoise blue & silver "Columbia" labels. It has 1st press YAX 923-7 and YAX 924-5 matrix numbers.
This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of this rare UK Stereo Classical LP. In great overall condition. I have some other rare & collectable 1950's & 1960's Classical UK Stereo 1st pressing LP's for sale too. Including many other "Klemperer" LP's. So please see my other listings. Don't miss out!
Sleeve: There is some light, very mild or very minor rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, very mild or very minor rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on a few areas. This is not that noticeable. There is some light or very minor foxing on the rear sleeve on some areas. This hardly really notices. The spine is in fantastic condition & shows next to no wear. There is some light or very minor ringwear on a few areas. Again, this hardly really notices. EXCELLENT condition.
Vinyl: It looks to be hardly played! It still gleams like new! There are a very few light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. These, again, can barely be seen under a strong light. EXCELLENT+ condition. The labels are in Near Mint condition and show next to no spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Near Excellent condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have play tested this LP in its entirety. Side 1 plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall, & Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some places. It never overpowers the music. The music still shines through! Side 2 plays Very Near Excellent to Excellent overall & Excellent+ in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in a few places. There are no clicks or pops across both sides.
This LP would definitely benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Visually the disc looks in Excellent+ condition. Therefore, any crackle is just due to microscopic deep down dirt in the grooves. This is from decades of storage. It would, I believe, be a top audio copy after a professional clean. It would remove any crackle.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this.
NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.
EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...
NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing, ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.
Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

All records will be sent in high quality packaging. All records will be extremely carefully & securely packaged to ensure safe arrival to you. The dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment. I always remove the inner/ LP from the sleeve & place them, with the sleeve, in a polythene outer sleeve. This will prevent seam splits to the sleeve during the shipping process. I often remove the vinyl from the original inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your records.
If you are uncertain about any of the above, or just simply want some information regarding any item, please do not hesitate to contact me. I welcome any questions.
Remember to check out My Other Items Lots of rare & quality vinyl! Most are UK 1st Pressings. It is quite likely that there will be more records by this artist, or records in a similar vein.
