Description
Archie Bell and the Drells, "Tighten up" LP. Cat.# SC8181,Nice Green and blue label,CSG stereo, Near mint record, original sleeve and cover(1/4" saw cut). They don't get much nicer. Matrix # side 1, CSG-A 681259-B. side 2, CSG-A 681260-B. Also initials AT and LW , W1 on both sides.
The single 45 "Tighten Up" , written by Archie Bell and Billy Butler,contained Archie Bell prodding listeners to dance to the funky musical jam developed by the T.S.U. Toronadoes, and it became a hit in Houston before it was picked up by Atlantic for distribution in April 1968. By the summer it topped both the Billboard R&B and pop charts. It also received a gold record (1 million sold).
This album with the hit song came out in May of 1968, and went to #15 0n R+B chart. The rest of the album is some of the best early R+B funk out there. Not seen in this shape to often.
