Up for sale is a very hard to find ORIGINAL comedy-spoken word LP starring an ensemble of British television comedians, some of whom would soon have tremendous success in other ventures.

A David Paradine Production (Note:  This appears on the record label. The album jacket credits Ian Fordyce.  Presumably, he was the producer of the TV series.)

At Last the 1948 Show ran on the British ITV television network for 13 episodes, from February to November, 1967.  It was a co-production of David Frost's Paradine Productions and Rediffusion TV.  The original recordings were destroyed by Thames Television when that company bought out Rediffusion.  It was only through painstaking efforts over several decades, involving multiple sources, that 11 episodes were fully, and 2 episodes partially, reconstructed.

This LP is the original release and was issued during the same year when the television series was airing.  Includes some of the most famous material, such as the hilarious "Bookshop Sketch" which features Marty Feldman and John Cleese.

Marty Feldman would soon have his own TV series (Marty!) and would go on to star in such movies as Young Frankenstein and Silent Movie.  John Cleese and Tim Brooke-Taylor would become core actors in Monty Python's Flying Circus (MPFC).  That group borrowed and adapted sketches from At Last the 1948 Show.  For example, the "Bookshop" sketch evolved into the "Cheese Shop" skit.

Little known fact:  The famous Monty Python line "And now for something entirely different" actually originated on At Last the 1948 Show.  On the record I am selling, it is spoken by Aimi MacDonald near the end of Side One.
