Description

This is part of a large auction featuring R&B, doo-wop and blues singles from several small independent labels of the 1950's/early 60's.

Release: Earl Gaines w/ Freddy Robinson Orchestra - White Rose


Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1958


Notes: Orange label first pressing. Fourth single by Gaines, who was born in Alabama and broke in with Louis Brooks' group. He would have a couple of minor hits later in his career. This one is an absolute stomper, great drum and piano work, simple but effective vocal. Really a great track. B-side is actually that same song worked into a commercial for White Rose petroleum jelly. 


Vinyl Condition: VG+, Vinyl itself is in great shape with basically no wear. It plays well and sounds great with no skips/ticks/bumps, hardly any background noise at all. Labels are very nice, with no tears/stickers, just a tiny little bit of light scuffing. This is a really nice copy overall.


Sleeve Condition: VG, has a vintage blank sleeve, but I believe it's original. Has some minor wrinkling and a small pencil number. No tears/splits/writing. 


All records I sell have been personally cleaned and play tested. Check back in late-January for a rock 'n roll/rockabilly auction and a very cool selection of 78's after that.
