Audioslave – Self Titled – 2x LP Vinyl 2002 OG First Pressing E2 86968 PLAY TESTED.
Extremely rare 2002 FIRST PRESSING of Audioslave’s self titled first record. Gatefold jacket, double LP. Original 1st pressings were issued without a clear hype sticker on the jacket. Later pressings for retail stores had a clear hype sticker in order to push sales.
Etchings on the vinyl runout are as follows:
Side A: AL 87058 A
Side B: BL 87058 B
Side C: AL 87059 A
Side D: BL 87059 B
I did a play test on a high end Technics SL 1200MK7 turntable prior to listing. There are no skips on the record. There is some very light surface noise on side C tracks 1 & 3 during the quiet soft intro before the music starts but subsides once the music kicks in. I’m only mentioning it to be as thorough as possible. Otherwise the audio sounds really great throughout both records.
The jacket has some very light onset of ring wear near the top on the front side. Not much but worth mentioning (see photo # 4). There is about an inch long light wear along the top seam but it’s not actually split through (photo #6). Very light signs of wear in some corners and light wear near the bottom of jacket opening (photo #12). There are no deep creases or anything like that.
Vinyl # 1 has some light surface marks but no deep scratches or anything that affects playback. Vinyl # 2 has some more significant surface marks on side C ~ probably from rubbing against the original inner sleeves before they were placed in high quality rice paper inner sleeves. Side D has similar light markings to disc 1. As previously stated, the play test sounds great and audio quality is not affected by any surface marks.
Original inner sleeves are in nice condition. There are two small seam splits on one of the inner sleeves and one small seam split on the other (photo ). Otherwise they are in excellent condition.
Given its age the jacket is very solid overall. I just try to mention any imperfections I notice in an effort to set the absolute best expectations possible. I am extremely picky about my vinyl and take excellent care of my records. Most sellers just give a grading based on their own grading scale but I do my best to thoroughly explain as much as I can so there are no surprises when you receive your purchase. This comes out of my personal collection and the records will be shipped outside of the jacket in high quality rice paper inner sleeves.
