Johnny Whitaker first stepped before the spotlight at the age of three, and success soon followed. Best known for his 1960s role as Brian Keith's nephew Jody Davis on the CBS series Family Affair, Whitaker also received kudos for his work with Fred Gwynne (aka Herman Munster) in the Hallmark Hall of Fame classic, The Littlest Angel, and as the human star of Sid and Marty Kroftt's Sigmund and the Sea Monsters. He even created the role of Scotty Baldwin on the long-running soap, "General Hospital!"

On the big screen, the red-headed actor appeared in movies like Napoleon and Samantha and Snowball Express for the Walt Disney Studios, and shone brightest when starring as Tom Sawyer in a lavish Reader's Digest musical penned by the Sherman Brothers and scored by John Williams.
in 1976, Johnny and three of his siblings appeared in a musical touring show which, appropriately for America's bicentennial summer, featured stars, stripes and a lot of energy.
Here is the souvenir LP record from The Johnny Whitaker Show ("An American Family Variety Show"), which was autographed by young Johnny Whitaker! On the back cover, in blue ballpoint pen, is the inscription: "To Maureen - Love - Johnny Whitaker." (Please note: the ink in the name "Maureen" appears to have been smudged by Whitaker's hand as he autographed the record--no doubt hurriedly at a county fair or other live performance venue.)
Mary, Bill, Johnny and Dora
Joining Johnny on the recording are his sisters Dora and Mary as well as brother Billy. Billy and Dora are known to Disney fans from the 1973 animated film Robin Hood, for which Billy voiced Skippy Bunny and young Dora (billed then as "Dori"), spoke for the smallest rabbit sister, Tagalong.

The musical numbers include upbeat standards like Baby Face, Gershwin's Swanee, When The Red Red Robin Comes Bob Bob Bobbin' Along and the classic Shirley Temple song At The Codfish Ball. From stage and screen come Jacques Brel's If We Only Have Love, the Lerner and Loewe Gigi hit, Thank Heaven For Little Girls and the Oscar-nominated Thank You Very Much from Leslie Bricusse's score to Scrooge.

From Whitaker's own career comes Freebootin',, a song from Tom Sawyer written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman (Oscar winners for Walt Disney's Mary Poppins).
The colorful illustrated cover features a large, smiling Johnny Whitaker, as well as fanciful performance vignettes. On the back are many sepia-toned photos of his past successes, as well as contemporary photos of Johnny with his siblings.
The vinyl record exhibits some handling, but played through very well with a minimal amount of surface noise. The cover is worn yet still colorful and attractive, as can be seen in our photos. There is some edge splitting on the bottom, though the overall jacket remains intact. Other than Johnny Whitaker's autograph (as noted above), the only marks are the remains of some light pencil/graphite on the front cover, in the large portrait's teeth and eyes. This is barely of notice and does not really affect the image.
An unusual, musical memento of one of the most recognizable child actors of the 1960s...and one who turned out well, as today, Johnny Whitaker devotes himself to charity work and to counseling individuals with at-risk behavior patterns.
