A very rare 1985 Top Of The Pops BBC Transcription Services vinyl disc. Featuring Freddie Mercury, Made In Heaven, The Smiths (Morrissey), OMD, Eurythmics, Simply Red (debut) and many others. A complete Top Of The Pops Radio Show on vinyl. VERY VERY RARE.
The show is presented by Brian Mathews at the BBC in London.
The A Side is the full show, the B side features 5 tracks in full from the show including Freddie Mercury, The Smiths and Phil Collins.
BBC Transcription discs were only made available to overseas radio stations for broadcast purposes and were not made available for sale to the general public. BBC Transcription Services pressed 100 copies of each disc only with instructions to the overseas radio network to destroy the disc at the end of the licence period.
This is a rare Top Of The Pops 1080 vinyl LP disc with original green and white labels, indicating the first issue. Disc plays fine both sides and is in excellent condition. Some handling and wear to te generic white sleeve.
I have owned this for almost 25 years and never remember playing it. It has just sat in my QUEEN collection, so it is time to go to another QUEEN fan.
The vinyl is in superb condition. It has a good clean shine and look to it. I just played both sides on my high quality Technics SL1210M5G turntable and it plays beautifully on both sides with no jumps or clicks. There is very light background crackle as expected on some of the quietest sections, but nothing unusual at all. Superb. House in original polyliner and plain sleeve. The replaceable plain white card sleeve has writing in one corner of one side and a small sticker to one corner of the other side.
