After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

This auction is for a rare, '3rd variation' original 1964 pressing of the Beatles American Capitol LP 'Meet The Beatles' on the Capitol label.

The variation relates to the publishing credits next to each song title, either BMI or ASCAP. An easy way to work out which variation the label is, is to check out the side 1 label. If no songs have either a BMI or ASCAP credit then it's a 1st variation (which are extremely rare!), If only the first track on side 1 has BMI then it's a 2nd variation, if the first two tracks of side 1 have BMI then it's 3rd variation, and if all tracks on side 1 have BMI it's a 4th variation. The 3rd variation is the most common.

This album was released at the height of US Beatlemania and, as a result, a high percentage of the original copies were played over and over, completely playing them into the ground and trashing them. Decent original copies are hard to find these days. This isn't a top example, but still in a decent, respectible condition!

The cover is showing the usual light wear and tear that the fragile American sleeves show, but overall it's holding okay. the front has yellowed slightly and has some light running over the title and image - no staining or marks or anything though). Top seam has a few little wear spots but hasn't torn or split. The bottom seam has some wear and has split near the mouth edge, but not all the way, so is holding okay with the split being about 2-3 inches long. The spine is a little rubbed but has no splits or tearing and is pretty much fully legible. The back is pale with a little touch of browning around the edges and corners. There's some light brown spotting at the feet of the groups' photo. There's a red stamped A at the top right. As I say, holding up okay but with the usual wear and tear these sleeves generally have these days.   Inner Sleeve: G

The original blue Capitol inner sleeve is included. It's looking okay with a nice colour and some browning around the edges. One of the sides has a small split whilst the bottom has a bigger split - about 3 or so inches long for the bottom split. But the inner sleeve is flat with no real creasing and just a little wear around the opening.   Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : VG

Usually copies of this album are found completely trashed and over-played. I wish I could grade this disc higher as it has a lovely, rich shine to it and, for the vast majority, just some light, faint scuffs and marks. It looks really nice but unfortunately there are two light scratches on side 1 at the 9 o'clock position (you can see them in the photo above) that are only just about feelable under the fingernail. Might affect play - could produce a light click or whathaveyou, but I can't check this out. The rest of the disc, however, looks really, really good!

The labels are looking awesome with rich colours and bright, silver text! There's just a little, light spindlewear and a touch of whitening around the centrehole. Awesome labels!.
