After 20 years of collecting, the time has come for me to sell my Beatles collection and let other collectors appreciate some of the records and memorabilia I've accumilated over the years. Please be aware that all records are VISUALLY graded only - all grades are given based on how they appear under my desk lamp - since I do not own a record player. I cannot guarantee that discs will be click and skip free, although any marks and scratches that might possibly cause such problems will be highlighted clearly in the description.

This auction is for a rare 1969 mono pressing of the Beatles LP 'A Hard Day's Night' on the Parlophone label.
This is the 1969 press that features the old yellow / black label design but omits the 'Sold in the UK' statement! These are incredibly rare and hardly ever turn up for sale!
In mid 1969 the tax laws that required UK domestic presses to feature the 'Sold in the UK...' statement since 1964 were changed, and so this text on the label was removed. This happened literally just amonth or so before Parlophone adopted the EMI 'one box' silver / black label design that the other EMI labels were beginning to use. By the time this was happening the fans were buying albums like Abbey Road and Let It Be and the earlier albums like Hard Day's Night were barely selling at all.
Not only that, but this is the even more rare MONO pressing! By 1969 mono was a completely dead, obsolete format and everybody was buying stereo. Parlophone only produced a tiny, tiny amount of mono copies with this label variation before the format was pulled.
So we have a label variation that was only available for a couple of months in a format that nobody wanted at a time when nobody was really buying the album. It's because of this that, today, this variation is incredibly hard to find!

The cover is holding up okay but does have some light, general wear and tear. The front has a nice colour with a little, light browning along the top bar. There's some dirt buildup on the laminate and a light disc impression. There's some laminate creases around the edges, moreso around the mouth opening as you can see in the photo above and the corners have rounded slightly. The top seam is holding fine with no wear or splits. The bottom seam has some little creases running through it with a couple of little wear spots, but hasn't split or torn. The spine has a few creases running through it, but hasn't split or worn and is fully legible. The back has yellowed slightly but is, overall, looking pretty pale. There's some disc impression, mostly around the mouth edge and there are some discolouration and light stain spots here and there. In the middle at the bottom there's a heavy mark - I've taken a close-up photo of this. The overflaps have some creases in them but are holding tightly. Overall, like I say, holding up well but with light, general wear and tear. Disc (Visually Graded Only!!) : VG

The playing surface has a nice shine to it and has a lot of light scuffing. I can't really see anything heavier. Looks like it could do with a bit of a clean.

The labels are looking good with clear, bright silver text.. There are some light spots over each label and a moderate amount of light spindlewear. Both labels have a little whitening around the centrehole.
