THE BEATLES
YELLOW SUBMARINE
Very Rare Stereo 1st Press with 'Sold in the UK' Statement!

This listing is for a very rare, original 1969 stereo 1st press copy of the Beatles LP 'Yellow Submarine on the Apple label.

Featuring only 6 Beatles tracks, only 4 of which were new, Yellow Submarine sold poorly and only reached number 3 in the UK charts. Only a short while after the LP was released the laws that required the 'Sold in UK' statement to be printed on the label were changed, meaning that this statement could be removed. As this happened just a short while after release it is relatively easy to find the 2nd press that omits this statement, but very hard to find 1st press copies that have it. This copy also omits the Garrod and Lofthouse credit on the back cover, something that only happened on early, 1st presses.

A beautifully clean, high grade copy of this very hard to find LP that comes complete with it's original black inner sleeve!

Please check out large, detailed photos of this record at the bottom of this listing.

Title The Beatles - Yellow Submarine Year of Release 1969 Catalogue Number PCS 7070 Label Dark Apple with 'Sold in the UK' Statement Tax Code on Disc - Sleeve Manufacturer Garrod and Lofthouse Side 1 Matrix Number YEX 715-1 Side 2 Matrix Number YEX 716-1 Side 1 Stampers 2 / AR Side 2 Stampers 3 / RD Sleeve Condition The sleeve is in EX condition. The sleeve is looking remarkable - usually these sleeves turn up pretty trashed but this one is looking wonderfully clean for its age! The front is colourful and clean with a rich, shiny laminater and just a hint of disc impression. Top and bottom seams are holding perfectly with no splits and tears. The spine has a couple of little creases running through it but is holding perfect with no wear or splitting. The back is beautifully pale and clean with a hint of light browning at the mouthedge. Beautiful example ! Inner Sleeve Condition The inner sleeve is in VG condition. This is the original black sugar paper inner sleeve and is holding fine with a little damage. There's some light creasing and a small tear to the label window. One of the side seams and the bottom seam have just started to split in the middle. Inserts Condition - Disc Condition
(VISUALLY GRADED) The disc is in EX+ condition. The disc has a really nice sharp, clean shine to it and looks remarkable for its age! Side one just has some light, faint scuffing here and there - side 2 looks cleaner. Overall though the disc is looking really, really nice! Label Condition The labels are in EX+/NM- condition. The labels are looking awesome and clean with no writing, stickers, tears etc, and have just a little, light spindlewear on each side. Nice labels!

My Vinyl Grading:

MINT No true preowned disc can be mint. The highest I will ever grade a disc is NM+/M- if it looks untouched and unplayed, but the MINT description will only be for records I personally know have never been played (i.e. I personally bought from new) or for copies that are still sealed. NEAR MINT (NM) For discs that look near flawless and which may have just the slightest, barely visible little whispy marks here and there. EXCELLENT (EX) For discs that still retain a brilliant, clean shine but does have some light scuffs here and there. VERY GOOD (VG) For discs that still look clean and have a nice shine to them, but do have a fair amount of light scuffmarks and/or some light scratches. GOOD (G) For discs that look like they have been loved and have a fair amount of scuffs and surface scratches. Not in terrible condition, but would look like it would play with a lot of crackle. FAIR (F) For discs that may have some life left in them but are pretty trashed with numerous surface scuffs and heavier scuffs and scratches etc POOR (P) For discs that are unplayable and look completely trashed. Discs like this would only ever be offered if they were insanely rare.
