The BEATLES 45 rpm vinyl record. Vinyl Condition is Goldmine EX. My highest grade. Beautiful vinyl and clean labels, proud to own or sell!! In the USA, 1981, Capitol Starline reissued just 17 of the common Beatles Capitol records, Hold Your Hand thru All You Need Is Love , then they were pressed again in 1982. The first batch in ‘81 with STEREO indicator, but when they determined the songs were still all MONO they were soon reissued with the MONO indicator, in ‘82. So 2 sets of 17 (Maybe 3 sets, read on!!). Sadly, All 34 are MONO. I have all of them. I purchased them in my search for Stereo Beatles singles worldwide. BUT A UNIQUE QUIRK OCCURRED. IN BETWEEN THE 2 SETS, SOME OR ALL WERE PRESSED WITH MIXED INDICATORS!!! Back to this one: 1982 press of STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER and PENNY LANE. THIS RARITY HAS THE CORRECT MONO INDICATOR, BUT ALSO HAS THE PREFIX LETTER “A” instead of “X”. Both sides are properly listed as MONO on these corrected labels. The 1981 labels with STEREO indicator were all in error and redone in 1982. Capitol NEVER actually issued these 2 songs in Stereo in USA! BUT.........Capitol Canada did, believe it or not, issue the A side in Stereo on 1983 Capitol Rainbow label rarity!! What the ——-! Until I found it I knew only Japan had issued both as a 45 single in Stereo, 1977. I have read the A to X switch is not connected to Stereo/Mono but is rather a pricc change indicator telling dealers to change the price of the Starline singles, higher I presume!! Regardless, I have only seen 3 of these “Baby Blue” Starline with this rare A/ Mono combination. (Paperback Writer, Strawberry Fields, and Can’t buy me love). No idea if the whole set of 17 has the rare A/Mono pressing. Beyond my pay grade as they say, more ways than one!!
