Beleive me you have to be critical about 1980s pressings! The audio quality of this album will be hard to surpass on all frequencies!! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! NEVER NEED TO UPRADE! 

Tug of War is a Paul McCartney album released in 1982. The follow-up to 1980s McCartney II, Tug of War is also his first official solo album after the dissolution of Wings, who were disbanded by McCartney in April 1981. The lengthy recording of Tug of War encompassed the reunion of an old collaborator, George Martin and the death of a beloved one, John Lennon!!

Following McCartney II's release, Wings regrouped in October 1980 to begin what would be their final recording sessions, whereby several songs later to appear on Tug of War and Pipes of Peace were rehearsed, recorded and unreleased. Feeling the need for direction, McCartney called upon his old producer, George Martin, to begin recording a song written for the animated Rupert Bear character (of which McCartney owned the rights), entitled "We All Stand Together", among others. The productive sessions continued until 9 December, the morning McCartney woke up to discover his old songwriting partner and fellow ex-Beatle, John Lennon, had been murdered the night before in New York City. Abandoning that day's session part-way through (where he and Denny Laine were recording future B-Side "Rainclouds"), both Martin and McCartney felt it was best to leave the project for the time being and start anew once they were ready!!.

In February 1981, two months after Lennon's death, Paul McCartney resumed his sessions, recording that month with Stevie Wonder, Stanley Clarke, Carl Perkins and Ringo Starr and laying down several songs in the process. Ex-10cc guitarist Eric Stewart also became a frequent collaborator of McCartney's during this era. Further sessions that summer were also undertaken at McCartney's studio on his Scottish farm—all with Martin manning the controls and giving McCartney's music the benefit of 1980s technology. The sessions were so productive that several of its tracks would be held over for the next album, Pipes of Peace, which followed in 1983. The rest of 1981 would be spent in a quiet fashion, with McCartney and Martin touching up the album and perfecting it!!.

ON INITIAL THIS VINYL LOOKS SUPERBE AS NEW!!!!! . THIS VINYL IS OF THE HEAVIER AND THICKER TYPE OF VINYL THAN LATER PRESS THAT I HAVE!! WITH DEEPER AND MUCH MORE ROBUST THAN THE LATER PRESSINGS WHICH ARE MORE FLIMSIER!!!!I CAN BARELY SEE A BLEMISH ONLY IN STRONG LIGHT CAN POSSIBLY ANY WHISPY MARKS BE SEEN CAUSED FROM THE VINYL BEEN SLID IN AND OUT OF ITS ORIGINAL SLEEVE! PLEASE NOTE! (THIS VINYL HAS BEEN STORED IN A SEPERATE POLY SLEEVE FOR AT LEAST 25 YEARS)!. THERE ARE (NO) AUDIO SOUNDING MARKS OR SCRATCHES THAT I HEARD THAT WOULD CAUSE ANY LOUD CLICKS OR POPS IN FACT I CAN'T SEE ANY NEEDLE SCRATCHES AT ALL!!!! AND I WOULD CLASS MYSELF AS HIGHLY CRITICAL (PLEASE LOOK AT MY COMPLETED SALES TRANSACTIONS OF THIS CALABRE AND YOU WILL SEE THAT I NORMALLY GET IT RIGHT!!!!! THE AUDIO IS TRULY BRILLIANT IT'S CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT EVEN BETWEEN TRACKS, VERY QUIET!  THIS PLAYS LIKE NEW!!!!!(SO RARE AND HARD TO FIND FOR A 27 YEAR OLD VINYL!!!!! THE VINYL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL SHEEN FROM NEW AND LOOKS AWESOME. (GENUINE 25 YEARS OLD) !!!!!! I WOULD GRADE THE AUDIO AS TRULY SUPERBE AT THE TOP ON ALL FREQUENCIES!!!!! WITH (NO) SIGNS OF GROOVEWARE OR THAT THIS HAS BEEN OVERPLAYED THIS HAS ONLY HAD TWO PLAYS FROM NEW!!!!!! NEVER NEED TO UPGRADE FROM THIS VINYL OR INDEED THIS ALBUM! AUDIO IS GRADED AT LEAST EXCELLENT PLUS TO EXCELLENT PLUS PLUS!!

PLEASE NOTE! I ALWAYS ADD THIS DISCLAIMER!IT IS ALL TOO EASY TO CRITASISE THESE EARLY 80S VINYLS, PLEASE ALLOW FOR THE ODD LIGHT STATIC CRACKLE\TICKS (NOT CONSISTANT THROUGHOUT THE AUDIO! PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A 27 YEAR OLD VINYL THAT WOULD HAVE ORIGINALLY BEEN PLAYED ON A 27 YEAR OLD SYSTEM!

DUE TO THE FACT THAT THIS VINYL HAS BEEN STORED IN A CASE FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS AND LAYING DORMANT, A BUILD UP OF DIRT AND DUST IN THE GROOVES CAUSES STATIC! A CONSTANT CLEAN IS RECOMENDED BEFORE EACH PLAY! THIS WILL REDUCE ANY STATIC AND ENHANCE THE AUDIO QUALITY.

This is the original (non laminated) cover in near very near perfect condition just a hint only of any storageware hardly worth to mrention there is not much more to say about this! (no) splits , tares any creasings are also barely worth to mention incredibly rare to find!!!!
