BEATLES – PLEASE PLEASE ME
BLACK AND GOLD UK MONO LP on PARLOPHONE PMC 1202
A FIRST PRESSING OF THE BEATLES DEBUT ALBUM, WITH THE SECOND, CORRECTED LABEL (THE RARE ONE) IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.
THE RECORD
MATRIX NUMBER XEX 421-1N / XEX 422-1N
DISC WEIGHT 180 GMS
THE LABELS - ON BOTH SIDES ARE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH ONLY ONE SLIGHT SCRATCH ON SIDE TWO ( 9 O’CLOCK) BOTH STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL SHEEN WITH NO FADING OR RUBBING.
SIDE ONE - THE PLAYING SURFACE HAS ITS SHARE OF SURFACE MARKS BUT NOTHING WHICH CUTS INTO THE GROOVES OR CAN BE FELT.
SIDE TWO - IS MUCH THE SAME WITH THE EXCEPTION OF TRACK ONE WHICH HAS A STRANGE MARK AT THE VERY BEGINNING AT AROUND 6 O’CLOCK (WHICH IS INAUDABLE) AND A LIGHT SCRATCH WHICH CAN BE FELT WITH THE FINGER
AS I AM LISTING THIS ITEM FOR MY COUSIN I HAVE PLAYED THE ALBUM THROUGH ON MY SYSTEM (GARRARD 301 / SME TONE ARM) AND WAS PLEASENTLY SURPRISED AT THE RESULT, A VERY BRIGHT AND CLEAR DYNAMIC SOUND WITH BAGS OF PRESENCE AND SUPRISINGLY LITTLE NOISE BETWEEN TRACKS WITH NO JUMPS OR STICKS (THERE IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING WITH THESE OLDER VINYLS, MAYBE IT WAS A BETTER QUALITY MATERIAL USED).
THE INNER BAG - IS THE ORIGINAL AND FREE FROM ANY TEARS, IT HAS YELLOWED A LITTLE WITH AGE AND HAS A LITTLE BIT OF CREASING ON THE OPEN EDGE.
THE SLEEVE - WHICH IS THE ‘ERNEST J. DAY & CO LTD’ IS GENERALLY IN VERY GOOD CONDITION WITH NO TEARS.
THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER HAS SLIGHT WEAR (ABOUT A QUARTER OF AN INCH BOTTOM AND SIDE) THE SPINE IS CLEAR AND LEGIBLE.
SLIGHT SPLITTING HAS OCCURRED JUST OVER THE ‘N’ IN MONO AND A SMALL WATER STAIN (FOUR INCH LONG BY HALF AN INCH DEEP) FROM THE BOTTOM RIGHT EDGE UP THE RIGHT HAND SIDE.
THE REAR OF THE SLEEVE HAS A FEW FINGER MARKS, BUT NOTHING TO DISTRACT FROM THE OVERALL LOOK. THE TOP LEFT HAND FLIPBACK HAS LOST IT’S LAMINATE FOR ABOUT ONE INCH, AND THE BOTTOM LEFT HAS A SLIGHT CREASE IN THE FLIPBACK.
I HAVE TRIED MY BEST TO SHOW THESE DEFECTS IN THE PHOTOS, EVERYTHING CONSIDERED THIS IS A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF THIS RARE VERSION OF A 45 YEAR OLD ALBUM.

In the coming weeks I will be listing most of my collection. I worked in the record business from 1963 to 1986 and over that period amassed a large collection, Most of which were only played once to put on tape using a Garrard 301 turntable and SME tone arm and are therefore all in Pristine condition.
If you have any special wants feel free to e-mail I may have it in my pile.
If you require more detailed information or photos please feel free to e-mail with any request.
