This auction is for: FORMAT: LP 12" 33 1/3 rpm ARTIST: The Beatles ALBUM TITLE: same - 1st Beatles album (issued in UK as "Please Please Me") LABEL: Parlophon CATALOGUE NUMBER: PMCQ 31502 - Released in Italy on November, 1963. PRESSING: Italy pressing. MONO or STEREO: Mono ADDITIONAL INFO: RARE! Red labels with BIEM logo on silver printing.  Boxed "Dischi Parlophon" logo is printed at lower left corner on front. (see pics). On A side label the song "Misery" is mispelled credit to McCartner. Misprinted name song on back cover: "There's A Plance" instead of "There's A Place". Matrix stamper numbers on the dead vax are XEX 421 I for the A side, XEX 422 I for the B side. The italian original mastering date 26 11 63 is also stamped in the dead vax both sides. RARO! Etichette rosse con il logo BIEM e stampa argento. Logo rettangolare "Dischi Parlophon" stampato sul fronte copertina in basso a sinistra. Errore di stampa sull'etichetta lato A negli autori della canzone "Misery": stampato McCartner, anzichè McCartney. Errore di stampa sul retro copertina: "There's A Plance" invece di "There's A Place". Numeri di matrice nella "dead vax" sono XEX 421 I per il lato 1, XEX 422 I per il lato 2.   La data originale italiana di masterizzazione 26 11 63 è stampata sulla "dead vax" di entrambi i lati.       GRADE AND DESCRIPTION (See pictures attached):   JACKET: VG(+) "Flipback" cover with general wear. Partially peeled off laminated jacket at the opening (4,00 cm. circa for all the height). 2,50 cm. seam split on perfectly readable spine. This splitting on spine is easy to repair. Small tear off paper on upper right corner close to catalogue number on front. Light wear on lower right corner on front. See pictures. Copertina tipo "flipback" con segni di usura generale. Laminatura sul fronte copertina parzialmente staccata in prossimità dell'apertura (cm. 4,00 circa per tutta l'altezza della copertina). Leggera fessurazione (cm. 2,50) del dorso perfettamente leggibile. Tale fessurazione è comunque facilmente riparabile. Piccolo pezzetto di carta mancante nell'angolo superiore destro in prossimità del numero catalogo e leggera usura all' angolo inferiore destro frontali.      LP (Side A/Side B): VG+/VG(+) Visually grading. - NM-/EX+ playing graded. Heavy glossy vinyl with many not sounding superficial scuffs and marks from the inner sleeve. No deep scratches. I have totally played and carefully listened to the whole record to search for any defect. It sounds great with just 9 very light repeating clicks (15 seconds) at the end of the 3rd track B side (Baby It's You). I couldn't believe to my own ears! It sounds much better than it looks. Very close to NM-. Vinile lucido e pesante con molti segni superficiali dovuti allo sfregamento con la copertina interna. Nessun graffio profondo. Ho integralmente suonato ed attentamente ascoltato il disco alla ricerca del più piccolo difetto. Suona molto bene con solo 9 quasi impercettibili clicks ripetuti (circa 15 secondi) alla fine della terza canzone sul lato B (Baby It's You). Non potevo credere alla mie orecchie! Suona molto meglio di quanto appaia e di quanto pensassi. Quasi un NM-.   LABELS (Side A/Side B): Clean labels with many spindle trails on the both sides. No marks, no stickers, no stains, etc... Etichette pulite con molti segni dovuti al perno giradischi su entrambi i lati. Nessuna scritta, macchia, adesivo, ecc...

I'm a music collector and enthusiast for over 35 years now. I always try to offer the finest and most accurately described and graded records I can find. I try, to the best of my ability to describe as accurately and as honesty as I can all the items I offer for sale with all the relevant information I can think of to help any potential bidder and collector. I clean every record with Nitty Gritty Record Master Cleaning Machine using its Pure Groove professional solution and, not always but very often, I Play-Grade the record I offer in its entirety to search for any potential defect, not just a little bit here and there to guess a grade. I listen to the LPs on a Shindo-Garrard turntable with SME 3012 tonearm and Ortofon SPU Mono GM cartridge for mono LPs, or Ortofon AS-309S with Ortofon SPU GM E MK II for stereo ones.   All the pictures I use for your guidance are taken with a digital camera, they are NOT improved, cleaned-up or made better looking than they are with camera trickery or enhancing with digital programmes. What you see is what you get. The only thing I cannot guarantee is exact colour matching - this depends on the lighting at the time and that is out of my control, but I feel sure most items will be very close to the actual real item.   Thanks for your interest and good luck.

 

 

 

My grading standard according to the Goldmine's:

NEAR MINT (NM) It should appear to be perfect. NM records are shiny, with no defects. No scuffs, marks or scratches on the vinyl. Probably unplayed. No blotches or stains, sticker labels or writing, no tears or seam splits on the jacket. No spindle marks, writing, stickers on the labels. Near Mint means perfect, only opened. Nothing on vinyl, nothing on cover.

NEAR MINT MINUS (NM-) Otherwise Near Mint but it has one or two tiny inconsequential flaws or light scuffs that do not affect play. Playing it, it means that only 4 or 5 very light minor static ticks or very light surface noise quite imperceptible, audible in quiet passages, are acceptable. Covers are close to perfect with minor signs of wear or age just becoming evident: slight ring-wear, minor denting to a corner, or writing on the cover should all be noted properly.

EXCELLENT PLUS (EX+) The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Not too far from perfect. On a disc, there may be light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of a sleeve. A very slight mark or hairline that did not affect play but may cause quite inaudible very light ticks (a few times on the disc), audible only in quiet passages, or some very light rustling (very light surface noise), would be EX+. No strong pops, loud repeating clicks or distortion.

EXCELLENT (EX) or VERY GOOD PLUS PLUS (VG++) A little bit worse than above. The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Not too far from perfect. On a disc, there maybe light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of a sleeve or some of the original luster may be lost. A very slight scratch that did not affect play but may cause quite inaudible ticks, crackling and perhaps some minor repeating clicks for no more than 5 revolutions. Maybe some light surface noise in the quiet passages. No strong pops, clicks or loud tics or distortion.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) The record has been handled and played infrequently or very carefully. Not too far from perfect. On a disc, there may be light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of a sleeve or some of the original luster may be lost.  One or two very slight scratches that did not affect play but could cause some light repeating tics or pops would be acceptably VG+. Again, no strong pops, skips, jumps or distortion.

VERY GOOD (VG) Record displays visible signs of handling and playing, such as loss of vinyl luster, light surface scratches, groove wear and spindle trails. Some audible surface noise or light distortion and a few strong pops but should not overwhelm the musical experience. Usually a cover is VG when one or two of these problems are evident: ring wear, seam splits, bent corners, loss of gloss, stains, etc.

GOOD (G) Well played with little luster and significant noise or distortion. It could play with some strong pops or repeating clicks. Despite defects, record should still play all the way through without skipping. Several cover flaws will be apparent, but should not obliterate the artwork.

POOR (P) Records are cracked, impossibly warped, or skip and/or repeat. Covers are very heavily damaged.

My Use of Description Terminology.

Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that very rarely sound.

Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record?s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform.

Surface Noise = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or rustle.

Sound distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus
