Description
VERY RARE Black & Gold MONO UK 1963 1st Pressing of 'Please Please Me' on the 1st Press Black & Gold Parlophone label! It is also a 100% GENIUNE 1963 Black & Gold 1st Pressing with the 'Dick James' credits to BOTH labels (unlike the later and more common pressings which have 'Northern Songs' credits)! BLACK & GOLD 1ST PRESSINGS OF THIS LP ARE VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND AND INCREDIBLY SOUGHT AFTER.
NOT ONLY THAT BUT IT IS ONE OF THE 'EARLIEST' 1ST PRESSINGS - HAVING AMAZINGLY LOW 1/R & 1/A MOTHER & STAMPER CODES, AND THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE 'ZT' TAX CODING ON THE SIDE 2 LABEL. This is the ORIGINAL 1963 UK Black & Gold 1st pressing on the 1st Press Black & Gold Parlophone label (with the 1st Press 'Dick James' Credits), 'The Parlophone Company' edge text, NO 'Sold In The UK' text, NO 'First Published' text, a LARGE 'MONO' on the cover front, and an 'E.J.Day' Flipback Laminated Cover! The 'Angus McBean' credit is in the standard position in the bottom right corner of the cover front.
The record is pressed on THICK quality vinyl. The matrix numbers are XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N. The Cat. No is PMC 1202 on the ORIGINAL 1st Press Black & Gold Parlophone label (see picture) and is a MONO 1st pressing.
Vinyl is in excellent condition with only slightest of surface blemishes ..... no nasty scratches present. Spindle holes do have light rubbing but playback on record is perfect. The outer sleeve has very minor rubbing to edges but no splits are present. There is light minor creasing to front cover. The original inner sleeve is missing and has been replaced with plain sleeve.
