Description

SGT PEPPER MONO PARLOPHONE PMC 7027

This is the very rare fourth proof sleeve, which was a pre production test sleeve

The first 3 proofs were not exactly right and were not used, these 4 th proofs were passed to EMI and possibly

BEATLES and BRIAN EPSTIEN for final approvement

They should never have  been released, but some slipped through and were sent to shops

Its not clear how many there is , but over the years  50 to 100 as been suggested by experts

This must be one of the very first issues

The 4th proof sleeves have fourth proof and initials AR  and the numbers D 13217 on inner flip back

AR is designers initial the numbers is printers number

On the bottom rear of sleeve the text PATENTS PENDING , on regular issues it reads patents aplied for,

later 60s copys dont mention patents

Sleeve is in VG+ cond very light laminate creases, a little wear on spine but tittle still very readable

Still creaks on opening gatefold

Orig dark green cut out is ex cond

Orig red and white inner is also ex cond

Disc is ex cond, very light marks under light

Labels ex cond, KT stamp on side one only

Matrix no XEX -637-1  XEX 638-1

Sold in uk logo, gramaphone wording on rim

Overall a decent copy of one of the very first issues of a classic beatles album

Sorry for picture of the 4th proof writing my camera would not work any closer
