Description
Artist: THE BEATLES
Title: “Songs, Pictures and Stories”
Label: VEE JAY ~ # VJLP 1092. Stereo pressing on medium weight vinyl. Label is black with “rainbow” border and silver text.
NOTE: As most Beatles collectors know, this was a repackaging of Introducing the Beatles, VJLP-1062. Not wanting to incur additional expense and rushing to get this out into the stores, Vee Jay didn’t bother to change the labels, and thus all copies of this LP were sold with the VJLP-1062 labeled disc.
“THE BEATLES” is positioned above the center spindle hole on the labels, which identifies this as a legitimate VEE-JAY pressing unlike counterfeit versions which place the artist name beneath the spindle hole.
“AUDIO MATRIX” is stamped in the runout groove on both sides.
Date: 1964.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl is nice VG++ with full original gloss. Has been played a small number of times and handled with care. There are a couple slight hairline paper scuffs but no serious marks or issues. Plays beautifully with superb fidelity. Labels are clean.
JACKET: Gatefold jacket is VG+ to VG++ with nice bright artwork and little to no surface or ring wear unlike most. Inside gatefold panel is clean and pristine. Seams, spine, and surfaces are excellent except for top seam which has a bit of scraping on the black portion and a small split (approx. 2”) at upper right corner of the white portion. No writing, stickers, or cutout indications. Overall a very fine jacket, not perfect but nicer than most.
Included with this LP is the scarce original period VEE JAY RECORDS full-color factory inner sleeve depicting gospel and popular LPs, in excellent condition.
