Description

Here is a RARE authentic vintage 1964 Beatles Vee Jay album from my collection offered up for auction/sale: "Songs Pictures and Stories of the Fabulous Beatles" Released 1964 on Vee Jay VJLP-1092 MONO. This beautiful custom cover VJ album was a short lived pressing from Vee Jay records. It's packaging was the result of lawsuits by Capitol records who were slow to release the Beatles records in the USA. Vee Jay records were allowed to sell the group's 1st album "Introducing the Beatles" in the US when Capitol record executives had wrongly accessed that British bands sell poorly in the US! When Capitol finally released "Meet the Beatles" in February of 1964, Vee jay records were ordered to halt production. These custom 2/3 gatefold covers were then made briefly and sold with the same record as "Introducing the Beatles" inside! (record has the VJ-1062 number!). Capitol's lawyers soon put an end to the cheeky VJ packaging and ultimately halted production and sales completely! (NOTE: it was at this time the hoards of bootleggers took over production! Quick check for bootlegs or fakes- It's a fake if title and THE BEATLES is separated by hole on label)
