Description
Original United Artists Records STEREO "A Hard Days Night" LP. Released 26 June 1964. Spizer version UA 6366.SR1A and was manufactured by Columbia Records (UA didn't press their own records but instead contracted with 5 outside companies to press their records). This is the 1st printing cover (SC1) with only "This Boy" listed as published by Maclen Music. Later 2nd printing covers list "This Boy" and "I Cry Instead" (sic) as being only Maclen published once UA realized they didn't have publishing rights since "I'll Cry Instead" was dropped from the film.
Graded using the visual grading standards of the Cox/Daniels "Price Guide For The Beatles American Records" (6th edition). These grading standards tend to be more stringent than Goldmine. See my various photos of the cover and record. I grade conservatively using a bright light so the buyer knows exactly what they are bidding on.
Record - VG
Both sides have various minor scratches/hairlines from 50+ years of use and enjoyment but none prevent proper playback; nearly all are fairly shallow in depth. Record plays completely through with no skips.
Cover - VG to VG+
No ring wear is evident on front or rear although normal wear exists at the top/bottom seams and to a lesser extent on the spine. Due to the bright red cover, the edge wear is a little more noticeable (and more common) compared to other covers with white slicks. The seams have wear but are not torn open/apart, though. A few very minor creases (but not bends) along the front side of the spine. Some corner bumps. Some old tape residue exists on the rear as well as some minor shallow indentations on the front and rear in places. No water or mold stains. UA LP's front slicks were pasted over to the rear; Capitol's original Beatles albums were almost always the opposite (rear slick folded over to the front). The front cover is a candidate for framing, if you choose.
