BEATLES UK – Abbey Road LP, very first press, mispressed misaligned apple logo sleeve and ridged labels.

1969 PCS 7088 - apple record labels.

A UK very first press album in original condition, featuring:

1. a Misaligned APPLE logo mispress on the rear of the sleeve,

2. each of the record labels have a curious ridge, 5mm in from the outer edge of the label,

3.side two label has an additional ‘ring’ some 5mm out from the standard raised ring on these labels. I have tried to show this second ‘ring’ in the photo but it isnt that clear,

4. on side two of the record label the track ‘Her Majesty’ is printed, but this track is not printed on the rear of the sleeve !,

5. the inner sleeve has been mis pressed as it is the regular Apple period 1969 plain white sleeve but the text ‘Patent nos’ and the ‘Made in England’ text has NOT been printed on the sleeve !,

6. a nice touch to the main card sleeve is that inside the sleeve, see photo, there is a small original sale sticker that reads, ‘BOOTS Chemists, Cambridge’ etc.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in near MINT condition, you would be hard pushed to find a better condition sleeve. The near perfect super glossy sleeve is laminated front and rear. There are just a few light laminate creases. The sleeve has retained its four excellent sharp corners. The original thin spine is in near MINT condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. As this is a very first pressing of this album it features the Apple logo on the rear of the sleeve misaligned, to the left !. The printers  were quick to correct this and very soon the sleeves were changed and the Apple logo was correctly aligned with the song listing. There are NO stains, pen writing, tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent condition and is the original APPLE EMI plain white sleeve. This sleeve has been mis pressed as the usual text ‘Patent Nos. 112,5555’ and made in England has NOT been printed on the sleeve !. A well preserved sleeve that has remained an excellent fresh white in colour. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stains, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE VINYL: side one is in near MINT condition, in fact it is difficult to see any marks under normal daylight conditions on side one. Side two is in excellent condition. The vinyl is made from the period thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained very dark and glossy. It looks as if it has received little play, the record has been well looked after.

The Matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,

The Mother / Stampers are:  ‘9 1 2    O P R’  and  ‘1   M O M’,

THE AUDIO: is excellent, an excellent clean, bold, powerful, stereo sound, an absolute pleasure to listen to. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in excellent+ condition and suggest very little play. As this is a very first pressing side one shows a DARK Green Apple colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
