BEATLES UK, Abbey Road LP, first issue UK 1969, mis-aligned apple logo sleeve.

PCS 7088, original first issue UK 1969 ‘dark green’ apple record label.

A first issue UK 1969 album in original condition, featuring:

1. the first issue UK 1969 copies of this album were ‘mis-pressed’ with a ‘mis-aligned’ apple logo. The apple logo was printed too far over to the left !, EMI were quick to correct this and very soon the sleeves were corrected to show the apple logo correctly aligned with the track listing,

2. first issue UK 1969 record matrix of: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,

3. first issue UK 1969 ‘dark green’ apple colour record label on side one,

4. the track ‘Her Majesty’ is not printed on the record label and not printed on the rear of the sleeve, but this track plays on the album !,

5. earliest ‘mothers’ of ‘1 / 1’ engraved onto the record. It is hard to find these first issue UK copies with such early, ‘mothers’,

6. comes with its original period plain white EMI inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition, the sleeve is laminated front and rear. The laminate has an excellent++ glossy, quality finish to it. This is one of the nicest condition sleeves I have seen for a long time. The original period ‘thin’ spine is in excellent++ condition and has remained white, clean and straight and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The four corners of the sleeve are in excellent condition and have remained clean and sharp. The two opening edges of the sleeve are in excellent++ condition and have remained clean and sharp. A first issue UK sleeve from September 1969 that features a mis-aligned ‘apple’ logo on the rear of the sleeve. EMI were quick to correct this and very soon the sleeves were corrected to show the apple logo correctly aligned with the track listing. There are NO stains, pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition and is the original period plain white EMI inner sleeve with the text, ‘Patent No 1,125,555’. The two opening edges have remained clean and unworn. There are NO tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the inner sleeve. There is some small text written of ‘L242’, in black pen to the rear, top left.

THE RECORD: side one is in near excellent condition. Side two is in excellent condition. The record is made from the quality period, 1960s thick heavy vinyl. The record has remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,

The mother / stampers are: ‘1 A’, earliest known ‘mother’, and ‘1 OO’, earliest known ‘mother’,

THE AUDIO: each side plays excellent+, each side plays with some light ‘crackle’ but overall an excellent playing copy. Each side plays with a full powerful period, stereo sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in near MINT condition. Side two is in excellent++ condition. As this is a first issue UK copy from 1969, side one shows a dark green ‘apple’ colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
