Description
BEATLES UK – Abbey Road LP, rare ridged labels & a thicker ‘seamed’ spine.
1969 PCS 7088 - Apple record labels.
A UK very early issue album in original condition, featuring:
1. each of the record labels have an unusual ridge, 5mm in from the outer edge of the label !,
2. the spine on the sleeve is very unusual, I have not seen another spine like it, as the spine is thicker than usual, it measures 3mm and it has a central ‘seam’ running all the way down it,
3. on side two of the record label the track ‘Her Majesty’ is printed, but this track is not printed on the rear of the sleeve !,
4. as the record is a very first issue from 1969, side one of the record label shows a dark green apple colour.
CONDITION:
THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. This laminate is in near perfect condition, as it is relatively free from any thumb creases etc. An excellent glossy, crease and scuff free laminate. The two opening edges of the sleeve are in excellent++ condition. The four corners of the sleeve have remained very clean and sharp. The very unusual ‘thicker’ spine is in very good+ condition and all the text on the spine is clear to read. There is some slight discolouring to the top of the spine due to some laminate loss. There are NO stains, pen writing, tears, splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE INNER SLEEVE: is in near excellent condition and is the original EMI plain white sleeve with the original ‘Patent No. 1,125,555’ on. The original sleeve is made of quality thick paper and the inside of the sleeve has a textured surface. A well preserved sleeve that has remained clean and white in colour for its age. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.
THE RECORD: side one is in MINT condition, it looks just like new, it is difficult to see any marks at all when the record is viewed under normal daylight conditions. Side two is in near excellent condition. The record is made from the period quality 1960s, thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained very dark and glossy.
The matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,
The mother / stampers are: ‘9 1 2 O P R’ and ‘1 M O H’,
THE AUDIO: is excellent, it plays with an excellent clear, full powerful, period stereo sound, an absolute pleasure to listen to. The record lays flat on the turntable.
THE LABELS: side one is in excellent++ condition, side two is in near MINT condition. As this is a very first issue, side one shows a DARK green apple colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.
