BEATLES UK – Abbey Road LP, unusual ‘thicker’ spine.

1969 PCS 7088 - Apple record labels.

A UK very early issue album in original condition, featuring:

1. the spine on the sleeve is much wider than regular spines, as the spine measures 3.5mm measured at its widest point. The spine also has ‘pinched’ ends, to the top and bottom of the spine,

2. on side two of the record label the track, ‘Her Majesty’ is printed, but this track is not printed on the rear of the sleeve !,

3. the record label on side one features a ‘dark’ green apple colour,

4. unusual label variant as the reference, ‘33 1/3’ has been printed much larger and has been printed over to the right, on each of the labels !,

5. the record comes with its original circa 1970/1 ‘Apple copywrite’, inner sleeve.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in excellent++ condition, the sleeve is fully laminated. The laminate has an excellent quality glossy finish and has remained relatively free from any ‘scuffing’ and any ‘indentations’. The two opening edges of the sleeve have remained sharp and clean. The four corners of the sleeve have also remained sharp and clean. The unusual ‘thicker’ spine with ‘pinched’ ends, top and bottom is in excellent++ condition and has remained clean and white and all the text on the spine is clear to read. There are NO stains, pen writing, tears, splits on the sleeve.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in excellent+ condition and is the original ‘Apple copywrite’ period inner sleeve. The two opening edges have remained clean, an excellent clean, well preserved inner sleeve for its age. There are NO tears, splits, pen writing, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. There are some light age related marks here and there.

THE RECORD: side one is in excellent condition. Side two is in excellent++ condition. The record is made from the period, quality 1960s thick, heavy vinyl. It has remained very dark and glossy.

The matrix are: YEX 749 - 2 and YEX 750 - 1,

The mother / stampers are: ‘6 P G A’ and ‘9 M R P’,

THE AUDIO: side one plays excellent+, I did hear on track four, two light ticks about half way through, otherwise, side one plays with relatively quiet grooves. Side two also plays excellent+ and plays with relatively quiet grooves. The record plays with an excellent clear, full powerful, period stereo sound. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: side one is in near MINT condition. Side two is in excellent++ condition. As this is a very early issue, side one shows a ‘DARK’ green apple colour. The labels are free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.
