BEATLES UK – Please Please Me, first UK issue, black and gold, northern songs labels, original mono.

PMC 1202 – very first UK issue 1963, on the original black and gold Parlophone labels.

A UK album in original condition, featuring:

1. original very first UK issue on the black and gold Parlophone labels with the harder to find corrected ‘Northern songs’ variant,

2. comes with its original UK very first issue mono sleeve, made of the period ‘thick and heavy’ card. The photographers credit lines up with the letter ‘S’, the last letter on the word ‘Songs’ on the front bottom, right hand corner of the sleeve,

3. the front sleeve photo has a more unusual blue ‘hue’ colour to it.

CONDITION:

THE MAIN SLEEVE: is in very good+ condition, the front of the sleeve is laminated. The glossy laminate has NO thumb creases. The two opening edges are in excellent condition for their age and have remained clean and sharp. The spine is in very good++ and has remained an excellent clean white in colour for its age and all the text on the spine is clear to read. The rear of the sleeve has the period 1960s tri-flipbacks. A very good, solid original sleeve. There are NO tears, pen writing, (any other, see below) splits, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve. To the rear, right, bottom flipback there is ‘water mark’. Inside the sleeve to the lower front edge there is a neat cellotape repair. There is a 20mm split to the bottom edge, where it meets the opening edges.

THE INNER SLEEVE: is in very good++ condition and is the original ‘Use Emitex’ sleeve. Theres NO pen writing, splits, tears, stickers or sticker residue on the sleeve.

THE RECORD: is in ‘fair’ condition. It is made from the original period 1960s thick, heavy vinyl.

The matrix are: XEX 421 – 1N and XEX 422 – 1N,

The mother / stampers are: ‘ 2 G T ’ and ‘ 1 2 G P’.

THE AUDIO: is ‘good’, it plays with some light crackle and plenty of ‘pops’ and ‘ticks’. The record lays flat on the turntable.

THE LABELS: are in good++ condition. There are the letters ‘Z M T’ embossed around the spindle hole on side one. Each label is free from any pen writing, stickers or sticker residue.

TO GRADE THE CONDITION OF THE RECORD I AM USING THE OFFICIAL GRADING SYSTEM FROM THE ‘RECORD COLLECTOR’ MAGAZINE.

THE RECORD / SLEEVES ARE THEN PUT INTO A NEW PLASTIC SLEEVE FOR FURTHER PROTECTION.
