BEATLES UK – WHITE ALBUM, ORIGINAL STEREO.

1968 PCS 7067/7068 -  APPLE RECORD LABEL.

A UK FIRST EDITION TOP LOADING STEREO PRESSING WITH A UNIQUE SERIAL NUMBER OF ‘0533744’.   THE RECORD LABELS ARE UNUSAUL AS  NONE OF THEM FEATURE THE TEXT  ‘AN EMI RECORDING’, THIS TEXT  NORMALLY APPEARS ON THE RECORD LABELS.   THE SLEEVE ALSO HAS A VERY CLEAN,  NARROW SPINE.

CONDITION:

MAIN SLEEVE:  the double album gatefold sleeve is in near excellent condition, the full laminated sleeve  is very clean and has remained quite white in colour.  On the front it has a raised Beatles logo and the unique individual SERIAL Number of 0533744, this number appears clear and bold.  There is a small ‘Stereo’  logo  to the top right rear of the sleeve,  proving this to be a genuine STEREO sleeve. The records are accessed from the top.  The spine is in near excellent  condition,  the sleeve feature the more unusual    ‘narrow’  spine,  it measures just 5mm,  most of  these sleeves   the  spine width  is about  8mm.  The spine is slightly squashed at the top,  obscuring slightly the word, ‘ The Beatles’.  The rest of the text is clear.    The spine is remarkably  well preserved,  one of the  best I have seen.   The sleeve features visible flipbacks when the sleeve is opened, these flipbacks are all excellent and well stuck down.  When the sleeve is opened is it very white, clean and tidy.  There are NO  stains or Biro pen writing on the sleeve.  An excellent  sleeve that  has not been handled very much at all.

INNER SLEEVES: are the two original black inners and have NOT been  replaced.  Both the sleeves are in very good condition+,  one has a 15mm tear at the Die cut hole, the other has a  10mm tear at the Die cut hole.    Remarkably  there is NO  edge wear at all to the  Two sleeves.

POSTER:  is in very good condition,  the poster is very white and clean,  there  is NO cellotape residue,  pin hole damage or blue tack residue.   There is some wear to the  top horizontal fold, but the poster is  complete and   NO repair has been attempted.

VINYL:  the first record is in very good condition, the second record is in good+  condition.     The Two records are made of the original ‘thick and heavy’ vinyl.     The matrix nos. are YEX 709-1, YEX 710-1, YEX 711-1 and YEX 712-1. The Mother/Stampers are:   ‘ 2    M ’,  ‘ 3   M O ’,   ‘ 1   G H ’ and   ‘ 1   R R ’.   

AUDIO:  Side One, the audio is very good, it  begins with  some crackle but soon settles down.     Sides Two,  Three and Four the audio is  good+,  they  play with some crackle and the odd   ‘tick’.     Both the records lay flat on the turntable and play  well with NO skips or jumps.

THE LABELS:  are all in very good condition and show NO Biro writing or sticker residue etc.   The labels feature the original DARK green Apple colours.  It is unusual that NONE of the  record labels feature the text   ‘An EMI recording’,   this is nearly always present on all four labels,   all the labels show  ‘Sold in the UK’ text etc.  The George and Ringo songs are listed as  ‘Apple Publishing’.

Unfortunately as you will see from my feedback,   I have received One negative feedback recently.   This is due to the fact that I followed Ebay policy and reported  an Ebay member for non payment and in turn I have received this feedback !, while this Ebay member carries on trading unaffected !,    I am disgusted that Ebay has let this happen !

To fairly grade the condition of the record, I am using the official grading system from the Record Collector Magazine.

Grading System

The seven standard condition categories and a description of what each one means are listed below:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

+  or  – :  indicates a grading in between categories.
