Description
Both LPs (matrix numbers XEX 709-1, XEX 710-1, XEX 711-1, XEX 712-2) are provided in new poly-lined inner sleeves.
The top opening sleeve I grade in VG+ condition. As you can see from the pictures, the front and back are very clean. The number of this example is remarkably low: it is amazing to think that it is among the first 30,000 made. The bottom and side edges show little or no wear. Only the spine shows any significant wear, but it is still in reasonable condition. Please study the pictures. The words ‘The Beatles’ on the spine are still present under the laminate, but a little hard to read as the laminate has lifted off due to repeated opening. The catalogue number is clearly legible though.
All four photographs are present and in excellent condition. They are the same ones that I found in the sleeve when I bought the set, probably about 15 years ago now.
The poster is present but is in poor condition: it has almost split into two along one seam and requires very careful handling (you may want to tape it, or it will come apart I think).
The discs themselves are in ‘good +’ condition. I have played through the whole LP: all four sides. There are no nasty noises and the discs do not stick or jump. (I play checked using a Nagaoka MP-110, which is quite sensitive compared to my old AT-95E.) The music shines through and it is definitely an enjoyable listen. However, the discs have clearly been well used and do have a lot of superficial marks. Many tracks play with a reasonably quiet background but on others, there is surface noise and crackle and occasionally a little distortion on loud passages due to overplaying.
