Here is one of the cornerstones of any Beatles collection - a complete first UK pressing of the White Album in stunning condition throughout.  This really is an amazing example. I have owned several copies of the White Album over the years and I can still remember the feeling of excitement the first time I came across this one. Copies like this don't turn up every day - this is the best I have ever seen!

Detailed description:

Vinyl: All four sides look fantastic and it is obvious that the vinyl has been really well looked after and hardly played. In normal daylight I could not see any marks at all on any of the four sides. Inspection under 160 watt halogen spotlight shows just a handful of small and insignificant marks, mainly paper scuffs from the seams of the inner sleeves and very fine hairlines associated with the records having been put into or out of the sleeves. Not only does the vinyl look great, but I have carefully played all four sides through high-quality headphones and would confirm that the sound quality matches up to the visual appearance. Obviously, there are no jumps, sticks or skips anywhere on the records. There is no distortion or deterioration in sound quality and no crackling associated with frequent play or needle wear. I did not notice any significant clicks or pops anywhere other than eight very, very soft quiet, almost inaudible clicks (audible in the right channel only) during the last few seconds of Cry Baby Cry on side four, but apart from this, there were NO REPETITIVE CLICKS ANYWHERE ON ANY OF THE FOUR SIDES. The only noise I noticed was a tiny bit of crackle on the run ins and run outs and a bit of static, occasionally audible during the very quiets parts, but I'm mentioning this only for the sake of accuracy and completeness as they really are hardly noticeable - remember, I was listening out for the noise, rather than the music! Throughout these records I heard instruments and vocals that I'm sure I've never heard before, despite having listened to these songs hundreds (maybe thousands) of times before on vinyl and CD. The sound is so good it was like listening to a different mix! This really is a near perfect aural experience from this 41 year old vinyl. The records genuinely look like they have barely been played and sound like it too. You would have to wait a very long time to find better.

Labels: All four labels look like new with no blemishes on any of them and all of them are free of wear around the spindle hole. There are some very feint spindle trails around the holes when tilted into the light but there are very few of them, confirming that the vinyl has hardly ever been played. Judging by the spindle trails on the opposite labels I would estimate that the sides have had the following approximate number of plays each: Side one, about six plays; side two, about two or three plays; side three, about six plays; side four, about three or four plays.

Sleeve. The fully laminated, wide spine, top loading sleeve is in stunning condition. It is complete and intact and is an original stereo sleeve with the word stereo stamped on the back. The sleeve is lovely and flat with solid, square corners with just a tiny amount of wear, virtually no shaping around the record, just a couple of bumps to the top openings and a handful of tiny nicks to the spine. There are no tears, no splits, no writing, no ring wear and no creases on the sleeve and it has retained a nice white colour with virtually no discolouration. The only blemish worth noting is a small area on the inside of the gatefold near the top of the inner spine where an area of lamination is missing. I have shown a close-up photograph of this, with a ruler so you can see the size of it, but it looks much, much better in real life than in this close-up photo!  This also shows you how wide the spine is on the inside! I've also included a ruler in the photograph of the outer spine so you can see how wide it is on the outside. The writing on the spine is fully legible and the lamination is intact all the way along. A lovely fresh, flat example of this sleeve. Please note that the photographs have been taken WITHOUT FLASH (using a flash on this album has the tendency to make the cover look whiter than it actually is!)

Original matt poster - This looks like new. Other than when I took the photo for this listing I would say that the poster has hardly ever been handled.

Original photographs - These look excellent with just very slight signs of handling and storage. The original spacer paper is even there too!

Original black inner sleeves  - These are also in really excellent condition, with no splits in any seams and no tears around the central holes, just some tiny snags to the openings of one of them and some light creasing.

Detracting features not covered above - None. This is a superb copy. The best I've ever seen.
