Description
MY DAUGHTER IS ABOUT TO GO TO COLLEGE, SO I HAVE DECIDED TO SELL A FEW OF MY VINYL TREASURES ON EBAY TO RAISE SOME MONEY TO HELP HER OUT. THE FIRST OF THESE IS AN ORIGINAL COPY OF THE BEATLES WHITE ALBUM. THE COPY FOR SALE IS A UK FIRST PRESS, WITH A TOP OPENING EDGE FOR INSERTION AND REMOVAL OF THE VINYL DISKS. THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC, UNMOLESTED AND COMPLETE COPY WHICH INCLUDES THE ORIGINAL POSTER AND FOUR PHOTOS, ONE EACH OF JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE AND RINGO AND. IT ALSO HAS THE CORRECT BLACK INNER SLEEVES ALTHOUGH THESE ARE VERY FRAGILE (see condition below). THIS IS A STEREO COPY WITH 'No 350790' PRINTED ON THE FRONT OF THE GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE DOUBLE FLIPBACK COVER WITH 'The BEATLES' EMBOSSED ON IT. IT IS THEREFORE ONE OF THE FIRST 500,000 PRESSED IN THE UK AND IS UNIQUE WITH THAT NUMBER. THE ALBUM IS ON THE APPLE LABEL WITH CATALOGUE NUMBER PCS 7067. THE MATRIX NUMBERS ON THE DISK RUNOUTS ARE YEX-709-1, YEX-710-1, YEX-711-1 and YEX-712-1. BOTH LPS ARE ON THE DARK GREEN APPLE LABEL WITH 'Sold in the UK' PRINT.
Condition
The cover is in EX condition and is truly an exceptional example of the original double flipback copy. There are no major defects, wear or stains. The spine writing. number and embossing is all still clear. The poster is intact with no rips or tears and overall is in EX- condition. The four photos are in EX condition and have never been used. Both back and front are unmarked. The vinyl itself is in VG condition, each record has a few minor marks but play providing very good sound reproduction with only occasional background noise. If there is a week point of this copy it is the original black inners. These are the correct black paper inners with a cutout on one side only to expose the record label. They are both complete but there has been some selotape reinforcement. One of the inners has come appart down both edges, the other has some tape repair to the centre cutout. They are however the rare original inners which are very hard to find. They are thin paper which is now 44 years old and most copies for sale these days are missing these because they have been swapped for non original but more robust inners a long time ago.
The record for sale is the one in the picture.
I post worldwide and charges are as follows £4.50 to the UK. £7.00 for standard small packet airmail to Europe and £10.00 for standard small packet airmail to the rest of the world.
I refund payments for any records returned to me but I do not pay the return postage. Payment is required within three days of the end of the auction otherwise I will assume you no longer wish to purchase the record and I will relist or offer to the second highest bidder.
Good luck with this auction. Please check out my other items for sale this week Here is some information on the Beatles White Album for your perusal taken from Wikipedia.
The Beatles is the ninth official album by the English rock group the Beatles, a double album released in 1968. It is also commonly known as the "White Album" as it has no graphics or text other than the band's name embossed (and, on the early LP and CD releases, a serial number) on its plain white sleeve.
The album was written and recorded during a period of turmoil for the group, after visiting the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India and having a particularly productive songwriting session in early 1968. Returning to the studio, the group recorded from May to October 1968, only to have conflict and dissent drive the group members apart. Ringo Starr quit the band for a brief time, leaving Paul McCartney to play drums on two tracks. Many of the songs were "solo" recordings, or at least by less than the full group, as each individual member began to explore his own talent.
Upon release in November 1968, the album received near universal acclaim and reached number 1 on the charts in the United Kingdom and the United States. The album is notable for the eclectic nature of its songs, which has divided critics in evaluating its legacy. The album has sold over 30 million copies worldwide and was listed at number 10 on Rolling Stone's "500 Greatest Albums of All Time" list. Previously in 1987, as part of their 20th anniversary, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it #9 on "The 100 Best Albums of the Last Twenty Years."
