Twist And Shout was the last song recorded for the first (UK) Beatles album Please Please Me in 1963; the entire LP was taped in one day! By the time they got around to this one, John, Paul, George, and Ringo had been recording for over 12 hours. As he swilled milk to soothe his ragged throat, Lennon just barely managed to get through this last tune. His shredded lead vocal highlights one of The Beatles' early classics.
