V/A - Bee Jay Does It Again (private press, 1971). Rare early 70's fuzz psych comp released by a Florida based booking agency. Includes gatefold insert with photos & info on each band.
Here is the description from a previously sold copy: 1971 label sampler LP from Florida's BEE JAY label. These albums were meant to showcase the label's bands for possible entertainment gigs around the Florida area, and were pressed in VERY limited quantities. If you search for them on this site right now, there are NONE. As label samplers, you'll need to know that most (but not ALL) the "songs" on these albums are shortened cover versions, usually 1 to 2 minutes, of popular songs of the time, but a few are band originals and those, usually, are full length, and undoubtedly ALL of these songs are unavailable anywhere else. They're also priceless examples of local "real" music, sometimes very funny, sometimes very good. This one, from 1971, is one of the label's earliest samplers, the 4th according to their discography. It's also one of their BEST, if not jaw-dropping, thanks to the absolutely INSANE "medly" (sic) turned in by the mighty Micropolis which kicks this album off. Imagine a brassy "Sergeant Pepper" absolutely DRENCHED in fuzz guitar seguing directly into "Let's Go To The Hop" and then, if that weren't ENOUGH, into a drastically edited Cliff Notes version of Richard Harris' overblown epic "Macarthur Park." Hey, wait, where'd everyone go? There's also a grungy cover of Alice Cooper's "You Drive Me Nervous" that's uncredited on the label but is probably the work of East Coast Supply, whose Coop leanings are well documented on other Bee Jay samplers. And two BIG surprises from Lead Feather, who are anything BUT the Page/Plant tribute band you'd THINK they were by their name. Instead, they turn in two BEAUTIFUL sunshine pop groovers that harken back to the glory days of 1968 hippie flower power with "Lovely Girl" and "Worry No More." Sadly, if there WERE a promotional insert with this album it's missing, but the music is here in all its glory, and this is the BEST of the bunch in terms of consistency. Vintage Seventies fun abounds here, and these original Bee Jay albums are VERY hard to find. Grab 'em while ya can and, since I've got three more up for bid, in the words of 70's bubble gum card commercials, collect 'em all!

Please e-mail with any questions prior to the end of the auction. I'm happy to combine shipping. Thanks for having a look!
Unless otherwise stated, all vinyl is VISUALLY graded. Due to the amount of records I list, it's impossible to actually listen to everything. Unless marked as new, these are used records and all that might include - possible surface noise, pops, etc. Please keep this in mind when bidding. I do my best to grade conservatively & thoroughly. If you're looking at this on a phone, I suggest waiting until you can look at the photos on a large screen.
