Bella Davidovitch, plays

Chopin, Ballade in F minor op. 52 No 4, in 2 parts. 12" Le Chant du Monde 5038, matrices PPS4089/90. Condition: 2-3, some very fine scratches.

Bella Davidovitch, born July 16, 1928 in Baku, Russia, studied at the Convervatory of Moscow with Yakov Flier and Konstantin Igumnov. 1949 first price at the Chopin Piano Competition. Beginn career in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. She also tougth at the Moscow Convervatory for sixteens years. In 1978 she emigrated to the United States, 1979 debut at the Carnegie Hall, since 1982 she has tought at the Juillard School in New York City.

Grading:

1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used

1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new

2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks

2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes

3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible

3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible

4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible

5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.
