A very rare 1946 78 rpm 10inch record.Benny Bell was a Jewish New York Theatre performer.
Famous for his humourous and risqué songs, 'The Son Of Pincus The Peddler' is particularly disturbing to modern ears. The storyline of this cheery comic song decends into brutal violence. No doubt this was cartoon-type Tom & Jerry humour, but without the theatrical visual performance, it's a little unnerving. Especialy as it would appear that Benny influenced The Goons, and you could easily mistake Benny Bell's voice for that of one of Peter Sellar's characters.
Record Condition-
VG (Very Good) The record has been lightly cleaned with a damp cloth. There are surface marks, a few light scratches, and it requires further cleaning.
Unlike some other 1940s New York labels, the sound quality of this record is excellent.
Both sides play remarkably well.
Will be supplied in a brand new Golden-Brown card sleeve.
