Description
[I had some trouble with my Weeping Willow tree today while taking pictures - it kept hurling excess dead leaves onto my photo table! Soon as I'd sweep them away, out would come a new batch. So I went with the flow.]
Here’s FLETCHER HENDERSON AND HIS ORCHESTRA on an early "Sunburst" Decca, doing “HAPPY AS THE DAY IS LONG,” from the 1934 “Cotton Club Parade,” and the Fletcher Henderson original, “BIG JOHN’S SPECIAL,” which was popularized a few years later by Benny Goodman.
This is yet the great Henderson band. Coleman Hawkins had taken off for England, but there still was HENRY “RED” ALLEN (trumpet), BUSTER BAILEY (clarinet), BEN WEBSTER (tenor sax) and HORACE HENDERSON (piano), amongst the other formidable musicians.
This original 1934 “Sunburst” Decca 214 is in splendid E condition.
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
