Description
Here's BEN SELVIN AND HIS ORCHESTRA, with two big hits of the moment (1931): "JUST ONE MORE CHANCE" and "(LET'S DRINK A DRINK) TO THE FUTURE!" Both are peppy and snappy, and also have the added bonus of BENNY GOODMAN'S clarinet, popping up here and there in brief solos. Goodman also had his eye on "The Future," planning to someday have a band of his own, meanwhile doing time as a reliable hot soloist with Selvin.
This original 1931 "Viva-Tonal" Columbia 2487-D is in nice EE- shape. Normally, I carefully remove unsightly stickers from labels, but this Mr. Hamilton has me beat! Instead of gluing on a sticker, he actually carved out a piece of the label's hide with a penknife, and immortalized himself. You win, Mr. Hamilton.
