Description
This is becoming a rare record. It's the only album by Big Sleep on the UK Pegasus label entitled 'Bluebell wood' from 1971 (catalogue no. PEG 4). The record features the distinctive Pegasus labels. The band i full of talent all of whom had played or went on to play with well established bands such as Eyes of Blue, Gentle Giant, Man and Ancient Grease.
OUTER SLEEVE - The gatefold sleeve is in overall fine condition with some wear on the front and some minor ring wear on the rear. The edges do show some wear and spine is in fine condition with some wear. The wording along the spine is 85% readable. The inner portion of the sleeve is in fine condition with minimal wear. It states on the inner left hand portion of the sleeve - 'Produced by Lou Reizner - Engineer : John Timperley - Recorded at Chappell Recording Studios, London'. I have graded the sleeve as VG+.
INNER SLEEVE - This is a plain white paper sleeve.
RECORD - The record itself looks clean with some superficial minor marks. There appears to be a pressing fault on both sides which results in a 'swish' on each revolution over the two sides of the record and this is audible during quiet periods and in between tracks. It is not audible during the loud passages of music. There are also occasional pops and clicks on both sides. There are definitely no jumps on any of the tracks and the record plays through really well on both sides in spite of the pressing fault. The labels are in fine condition with some spindle marks on each label. There is no damage to the labels on either side. the label on side one features the winged horse 'Pegasus' logo on a blue background with no credits. The label on side two features the same logo on a whitebackground with credits for both sides. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - PEG 4 A-1U (stampers 1 G) - side two - PEG 4 B-1U (stampers 1 R). I have graded the record as VG+ and I believe that this is very fair. I try to grade everything as accurately and conservatively as possible. The winner of this auction will not be disappointed.
