Inspired by Bill Evans' niece Debby Evans, Waltz For Debby is considered to be an apex of live jazz artistry.
From New York's Village Vanguard June 25 1961. This live RIVERSIDE HI FI Mono recording 399 from just before Scott LaFaro's untimely death on July 6 1961 portraits a chemistry of musicianship on a hard upswing that can only leave one to shake his head and wonder if only...... This is the first pressing not a reissue or electronicly rechannled for stereo version. This is the one you want. This is the best sounding warmest analogue record of this historic performance by Bill Evans Scott Lafaro and Paul Motian.

*THE JACKET GRADE: vg++ Due to some spotty mottling to the shine on the front and a bit of ring wear. Otherwise the corners and seams are good. No breaching at all. The spine is not perfect but intact and legible. There is no writing or tape anywhere on the jacket. All in all it's quite well preserved for a 52 year old. Recorded in 1961, Waltz for Debby was not released until 1962.
*THE RECORD GRADE: Excellent. Or just below mint minus. This 12" 33& 1/3 rpm record is nice and shiny thick vinyl with the deep groove and free from even hairline marks or paper scuffs which is good because the dynamic range of this recording includes a lot of delicate intricate soft passages which creates a field day for even puniest speck of dust in the way of surface noise. There is a minimal amount of surface noise barely noticeable in the super quiet passages. This record is from the collection of a big time jazz aficionado who afforded himself top of the line equipment and played his prized recordings with the greatest of care generally keeping the tracking force under a gram on his AR turntable with a Shure V15 III stylus & cartridge.
*The inner sleeve is a plain white paper Riverside sleeve in great condition, no writing or breaches. It has a hole to show the label and the open edge has a recessed part to allow for easy access to the record edge. The record will be shipped in a separate inner sleeve to preserve the original.
*Shipping: We do our best to keep shipping costs down and reflect the actual cost of shipping while insuring safe delivery. We remove the record from the jacket and inner sleeve and ship the record in a generic paper sleeve and then slip everything into plastic sleeves for extra protection. Bubble wrap is then used to surround and further protect the contents of a standard cardboard record box. We use USPS priority shipping domesticity. Returns are accepted if buyer pays shipping. International shipping can be achieved through ebay's Global shipping service.
