Description

THIS IS THE RAREST WIZARDO  BY FAR TOGETHER WITH MIRACLE MUFFIN (COMPLETE WITH INSERT)AND TAKE LINDA SURFING(1ST EDITION COMPLTE WITH COSMIC SURFBOARD INSERT)BOTH BY PINK FLOYD

300 SERIES WAS A BATCH OF 10-15 TITLES IN THE LARGE WIZARDO CATALOGUE(MORE THAN 80 TITLES) MADE IN 300 COPIES BACK IN 1975 ON COLOR OR MCVINYL

VERY COLLECTABLE AND VERY SOUGHT AFTER FOR THEIR BEAUTY AND RARITY BECAUSE K&S PRESSED TITLES IN 100-200 COPIES BUT IN 1978-1979!!!!!WHILE WIZARDO MADE THIS IN 300 COPIES IN 1975!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THOSE TITLES ARE IN MY OPINION AS RARE AS K&S ONES(I'M A LONG TIME COLLECTOR AND I HAVE IN MY COLLECTION ALL WIZARDO,K&S,IMP,ICR,,MUSHROOM,TMOQ TITLES SO I KNOW WHAT I'M SAYING!

ABOUT THIS:

                                            The B.TOFF BAND

\                                                       USA - WIZARDO Records - 300 Series

Very rare original mid 70's private California pressing of tripped-out garage in multi-splatter blue wax ... with a bent twisted edge, these hippie cats deliver a bizarre stoned style similar to a more lo-fi garage sound of early Zappa/Mothers Of Invention humor that goes beyond ... definietely fueled by the marijuana hippie vibe, The B.Toff Band has all the ingrediants local garage collectors look for.... With a wrap around cover and two inserts (autographed no less) the original "complete" pressing is not often seen and well off the beaten path into the obscure levels of "rarity" ...

The Berkeley student known by the name of John Wizardo used to be an avid bootleg collector until he decided to start his own bootleg label Wizardo Records in the early 70s. In 1976, he decided to press a record of some of his own recordings, made between 1971 and 1975 under the pseudonym B. Toff Band, putting a photo of his own face on the cover, even though the FBI were chasing after him and didn't really know who he was by sight!

Included with each copy of the LP was an insert with extensive info as well as an insert signed by him and his partner (calling themselves Jon Tschirgi & Larry Feign). On this particular copy's insert photo, Jon signs the signature of George Harrison, which looks like George's signature. The signatures by the way, are real and not photo copied. You'll be hard pressed to find another album that suddenly hits 'freakout' hot spots, like "Little Freddy's Acid Trip" with flipped out vocals and wound up (sped up recording) guitar leads sounding something like Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad or Alvin Lee of Ten Years After in the guitar solo spotlight. Other parts are just classic charmed and cracked with weird, often obscene lyrics. No commercial potential here folks....

The humour is sort of like early Zappa & Mothers (first in the long thanks-for-inspiration list is Captain Beefheart, by his real name Don Van Vliet, see insert), the album is guaranteed to make you smile (at least) and the stylistic range is pretty wide from deadspan lost highway acoustic songs to a spheric tremolo-violin-and-guitar rendition of Pop Goes The Weasel ! Definitely worth hunting down...

Hey, a really great album, both silly and beautiful.
Love Theme From 'Lunchbox Of The Planet Of The Apes' and March Of The Trolls are really beautiful whilst ABC and Sad Song are truly brain-killing ("this song is sad, this song is simple, this song is good, it won't get you pimples - aren't you glad that this song is good, i get to my point, don't you wish that i would?")
The stupid Honky Tonk Savior is also a must-listen ("open the door for jesus christ, open the door, once or twice" ... "there is a big party in the sky" ... "if you get a job and cut your hair" ... "or you roll with satan when you die" etc. i'll have to transcribe the whole lyrics some time...) .... Sometimes noisy, sometimes violent, sometimes beautiful.

The album ends by a girl accusing Jon of being "really repulsive" ... girl: "you make me sick!" - Jon: "why, doing what? What did I do wrong?" - "I don't know, I just wanna go puke!" - "well, I'll stop recording then..." - "yeah, that'll be a good idea!"
